Does anyone know of any articles in MRR that discussed the results of these two products. I entered both names in the “Search This Site” box and got nothing on either. I seem to recall an article about the Flitz Paste, but that would have been five or more years ago.
Just try it using the key word “gleaming”

I have seen a Flitz thread but that was on another magazine forum… may have been here too. I know it’s not mentioned as one of your 2 requests but I can highly recommend No Ox. I put it on 2 years ago and haven’t done a thing to the rails since. I have vacumed one or twice when I did dirty work in the area of track. SOOoooooo nice to walkout in to the garage, pick up a throttle and run a train just like a the day I last cleaned the track…2 years ago

Take a look at this thread:

Flitz and Mothers polish work great on my aluminum wheels on my Trans Am. Never tried it on the rails though. I don’t think I want to either, I’m happy doing what I do. I find the Mothers polish tends to last longer then the Flitz if that helps you.

I tried the MOTHERS MAG WHEEL Polish about 7 or 8 years ago on my current layout (3000 feet of track)!
I have NOT HAD to CLEAN my rails since !!!
It has been the BEST method of cleaning my track as I DON"T have to do it any more!
When I first built the layout - I was cleaning my track before every OPs Session (twice a month) and as I added more track - it was becoming a large time waster as it had to be done in 2 weeks again!
There was an article in the 2003 Model Railroad about using metal Polish to clean your track.
I read this article and thought - That isn’t going to work!
BUT - I was so discouraged at the every 2 week track cleaning session - I decided to try it - as I had already tried every other method and NOTHING worked! Well they worked for THAT SESSION ONLY as in 2 weeks it was back to cleaning AGAIN!
I tried it on a small section and the engines ran great week after week - then I tried it on another section that didn’t get run as much as the mainline and it worked great.
When I would run my engines out onto the mainline they would begin stalling - BUT - as soon as I moved back onto the polished section the engine smoothed out!
At that point I shut down the layout (it was during an OPs Session) and told my operators we were going to Metal Polish the track.
Everyone jumped in and we had the layout done in an hour - that was back sometime in the Fall of 2003 - I haven’t had to clean the whole layout since!
I do clean sections (when I am doing scenery & ballasting) to get the glue off the track or when I
Thanks for all the responses!
The article from 2003 (January) was the one that I was looking for.
