Floquil Instant Weathering spray can??

hey everyone… my LHS has a can of Floquil Instant Weathering in their rack of spray cans, but theres no color on it. Does anyone know what this is? Does it just add a layer of grime, like a thinned grimy black?

It would be AWESOME if someone could post a picture of something that it was used on. Google turned up absolutely nothing…

That’s funny, this was the sixth link on the first page that popped up when I googled “Floquil Instant Weathering”
http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/product_p/270-130016.htm

The color patch on the previous post is tan. The weathering spray is NOT opaque - it’s semi transparent. I’ve used it for quick freight car weathering - looks like dust along the bottom of cars & on trucks. Not the same as an airbrush - but if you don’t have an airbrush . . . . . [8D]

True, I thought that went without saying, but you are absolutely right to mention it. I was trying to answer the OP’s question about the basic color.

yeah i saw that link, but in all the places that sell it, i always thought the ‘color swatch’ or whatever just showed no color…

so basically it just kind of fades the color a little bit? do you have a picture of a freight car you used it on that you could post?

What ever happened to saving up for a quality airbrush and mixing your own paints? [:)] Anyway, it seems to be for beginning modelers… WAIT, I’m a beginning modeler, I could use a dust coat… I’ll investigate.

On your account, DeadheadGreg,

I haven’t even heard of this product until now…[:-^]

This is what instant weathering looks like if you’re not careful.
