This ran over the Southern Railway during the 1969 to 1973 time frame. I never got to see it though.

I saw the train twice; once as it went through Tuscaloosa on its way south from Birmingham (I forget just what year it was), and, along with my bride, in San Francisco in 1972. I do not think that it ran on the Southern in 1973.

I was fortunate to watch it at trackside as it passed through Plainsboro NJ on the PRR mainline. Got some 8mm movies of its passing.

My wife and I saw the locomotive being unassembled at the York museum this past April.
We will have to return in 2015 and see the completed project!

A wonderful example of steam locomotion. As almost anything is possible these days…restoration-wise, how about building an Atlantic ala Milw. Road from scratch?

The Flying Scotsman was in Waco, TEXAS FOR A WEEK. in its run over The KATY problems developed…Brass was needed on a driver part …The Sante Fe shop in Cleburne, TEXAS was the closest shop that could still do this work. The train crew were very friendly. Visitors were there every day… Quite an enjoyable week.

I hope that someone makes a DVD of its return to the rails.

Great news for steam fans everywhere. Bring her over here so we Americans can see her, too.

austin, you can buy a new steam engine from China.

The coaling towers pictures brought back memeries of the tower at the CPR roundhouse at Ottawa West in Ontario, from many years ago.
