I have asked this question before, but for some reason i have to ask it again, what is the difference between blue styrofoam and the pink styrofoam? Every articale I seen its pink foam used, what is the difference between them? I have been told that the blue is ok and just as good as the pink, if that is so then why is pink the exclussive foam used in all the Model Railroader articles?
Manufacturer. There is also Green and Yellow which are a different weight but work fine. If you can find any of it in a dumpster at a construction site, they are interchangible. If you are going to buy it, light weight blue and pink are the same stuff. Get the light weight, it costs less and they all work the same. Some of my pics will show all four colors used in the same mountain side.
Yeah, the pink and blue are completely interchangable. They’re just 2 different brands and it just depends on what your local supplier carries.
Blue is made by Dow. Pink is made by Owens Corning. The “R” value may be different for housing purposes, but for us it doesn’t really matter. I have both on my layout. I don’t see any difference.
