This looks like the prototype for EZ track. Looks like there’s hope for my layout.

That’s why I threw that one in there. I thought it was kind of cool. It is a smooth bit of right of way. They just came through and installed concrete ties and new ribbon.

Way Cool! Thanks for posting. I guess the Grande liked to make use of everything. Can you give some specifics on each pic? I’ll add a link to them on the DRGW Yahoo group.

There really aren’t any specifics to add. I don’t know anything about them other than the assumption that they were put there as a retaining wall. Also notice the rail that was put in place like some kind of a “fence”. Some folks have speculated this is the result of a derailment, but they seem awful neatly stacked. I have also seen where the Rio Grande welded hoppers in place as wind breaks. When you get into mountain railroading, there is no telling what you might see. One of my faves is the hanging bridge in the Royal Gorge.
