I am half tempted to snatch it up, even though I don’t model logging ops. I always thought these were cool.

That was a nice model, but where would it fit on a logging road. It is way too big for my curves and to fit under my trees.
You could lay a whole lot of rail in a hurry with that thing (a relative hurry).
Such tracklaying machines weren’t necessarily used on logging railroad, many large first class roads used them too. I made one a while ago, which is quite similar to the brass one shown in the eBay auction:

Etched brass gussets, boom bracing, ladder, and other small items came as bonus items in a Sheepscot Models pile driver kit. I had to supply everything else, mostly Evergreen structural shapes, flat cars, so it is more or less kitbashed. The diesel motor was a tractor that I cut down and modified.

Nice work!!! That was a mistake on my part to make it sound as if they were restricted to logging railroads. I just remember that quite a few of these things made their way onto the logging operations.[:)]
Yes a few of these made to logging sites, they were used to load logs, probably a perfect fit for large scale west coast logging company, remember, a lot of older railroad “stuff” made it to logging companies and was in use long after extinction by large railways., by the way, just wait to see what it sells for !
