Ford A-model sedan

Hi,I´mChristian from Germany,

I built a Ford A-model from a Jordan kit. Now my questions:

like the prototype was the bumpers etc. chrom plated?

how was the Painting on a grey car :was the sunsheed also painted like the whole car,the wheels?

Thanks for answer me soon!

Your post got me doing a google search. There were not as many vinyage photos as I expected Most were of restored cars.

Except on some of the restored cars the bumpers do not appear to be chromed. Although they are a metalic (steel?) color, not painted. They do not reflect light in the same way as the headlight housings which do apper to be chromed.

The sun shade generally appears to be the same color as the roof of the car. Many of the roofs are body color, but many others are black even when black is not the body color.

Hi, Christian,

Of the two Model A’s my dad had when I was a kid in the 1940’s, both had chromed bumpers as did the Model A I owned in the late 1950’s. In all 3, the chrome plating was rust pitted and peeling off in spots.

All Model A’s that I’ve ever seen that hadn’t been “restored” were Henry Ford’s black. To be different, some people painted the wire-spoked wheels — mostly red or yellow.

Hope this helps — John T. in the rusted out cow pasture
