Does anyone know of a model railroad layout for this facility? I’m interested in trying to model it at its height of activity in the 30’s, 40’s or 50’s. I took several tours there when I was a child, thanks

Has anyone evr built a layout of the Rouge plant? Doubtful, I don’t think anyone has the acreage for it. This would have to be selective compression at it’s best.
But still a very cool idea. It’s doubtful that anyone has ever mapped the track arrangement for the plant but I bet the Henry Ford museum would have lots of photos, maybe some aerial shots of the plant way back when.
Sounds likely
To have a quick look at the present site, go to e.g http://www.bing.com/maps and search for the address Road 4, Dearborn, MI
Go to Aerial, birdseye view to see more detail

Check out Jeff Wilson’s book “The Model Railroader’s Guide to Industries Along the Tracks”. In the chapter on car manufacturing he includes some useful prototype information on the Ford factory, as well as some nice pictures.
My own suggestion for modeling the plant would be to make a list of all the features and buildings that the factory had, and then arrange your models of these buildings on your layout in a way that makes sense and pleases you.
Don’t forget the GM (EMD) switchers with FORD on the cabs.
