I don’t know if I am the only person to realize this. Ford Has a concept Truck called the Super Chief, and it is based on the Styling cues of the “ATSF Super Chief Locomotive.” So to make a long story short, the Ford concept truck is based on a GM F7 Locomotive. Am I the only person that thinks that is kind of funny? Only a train guy would realize that.

I think this truck is the stupidest idea ever! I saw it on the auto show on TV. BTW, how do you know the “Super Chief locomotive” isn’t an ALCO PA? On the auto show they just said “super chief locomotive” they didn’t say what it’s based on. Also, I bet BNSF may still have the rights to that name, although Ford may have gotten permission to use it.
Ummm,no.
A variety of state-of-the-art locomotives (including ALCO PAs, EMD E6s, FTs, F3s, F7s, and FP45s, along with Santa Fe’s only ALCO DL-109/110s and FM Erie-built units) were used on the Santa Fe’s Super Chief.
I for one am surprised that Ford would build a truck (or any vehicle) with styling features designed by rival GM! It goes to show you how far GM has fallen and the ignorance of the public about railroads and their suppliers. BTW the truck IS [:p] on the neat side! I, however just bought a new Ford escape after x-mas, so…
also Santa Fe had two GE uboat designs that pulled their super chief and other passenger trains they were: THe U28CG #350-359 and look exactally like a U28B because when the U28B was first designed they left room behind the cab for a steam generator. Same length too, 67feet 3inches
And there was the U30CG # 400-405 were cowl verson of the U28CG…they were the only ones built.
So mabe they baised it off these GE U boats…[xx(] ugly
Goes to show yet again that Ford is not in touch with the consumer, no wonder their sales numbers are down.
