I don’t know what happened but my where is it thread quadrupal posted and I can’t get back in to delete it (or even reply). [%-)]
The Forum just can’t get enough of a good shot, Chad!
(I commented about it on one of the threads before I saw this one…I guess you’ll need a higher power to remove the duplicates.)
Every since the new site started up, I’ve gotten a screen after attempting to post that says "timed out, ‘trrs’, with a bunch of (to me) computer gibberish underneath it. Why would that be?
I double-posted when I decided the first post didn’t take in the thread about the Metro engineers.
Chad, I count five of those threads.
Yet I got a message the other day telling me that the forum was configured not to take duplicate posts (and I didn’t even realize I had).
Every time I try posting anything in the forums, I always get “Internet Explorer Can Not Display Web Page”, or something like that. And I always end up going back to the Home page of TRAINS. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? And am I the only one that this is happening to??

Quadrupals, we can do. Duplicates…no.[}:)]
Casey Stengel once commented after the Mets had lost the first game of the season, “This opens up the infinite possiblity of a winless season!”
With five posts it opens up the infinite possiblity of five wrong answers!
Chad - It was a good shot, so seeing it four times didn’t bug me at all! [;)]
You still out shooting with the D60? I’ve kinda been thinking about getting another one of them. I still say that the D60 produced some of the nicest looking pictures straight out of the camera. Plus, you can adapt almost any lens to Canon EF! I’ve been itching to try out some Leica R glass. There’s a way to modify them to work on Pentax, but it would be a whole lot easier just to get a Canon body and use that.
Hi Chris, Yes I’m still shooting with the D60, and very happy with it. I am thinking about getting a better zoom lens though.
Like VallyX - I am getting lots of timeout errors

Hi Chad,
Glad she’s still working well for you. She’s bordering on ancient in terms of DSLRs, but is still capable of great images as you keep showing.
What are you looking for zoom-wise? I could probably point you down a path or two depending on what kind of focal length, aperture and price you’re looking for.
When I get serious (meaning have the money) I’ll look you up. I’m just not happy with the sharpness of the lens I have, especially when zoomed all the way (300mm).
IIRC, you have the EF 100-300mm f4.5-5.6 for your long lens. There’s a guy on one of my camera fora that refers to that as the world’s fastest focusing Coke bottle. The USM on that bugger is ridic fast, but at the long end of the zoom range, there’s no way to get a sharp shot.
There are some options available in this range, but it’ll depend on your budget. Let me know when you get closer. If you’re looking for a cheap-ish sleeper, keep your eyes open for a Canon EF 100-300mm f5.6L. It’s an old pump zoom (which I don’t really like) that doesn’t have USM (so it’s kind of a slow focuser), but it’s optically spectacular. Otherwise the EF 70-300mm IS lens (not any of the 75-300s or the 70-300 DO lens) is a pretty good performer and comes with Image Stabilization. I haven’t tried it yet, but have read a lot of good things. The Sigma 100-300mm f4 gets a lot of good press, too (provided you get a good copy).
There are other options, too. Like I said, give me some guidelines when you’re ready and I’ll give you a few options.
Thanks Chris, Can you give me an idea on price ranges? Then I’ll know how much $$$ I need to be serious [;)]. And I don’t use the autofocus at all on the zoom, so that’s not an issue. I’m mainly looking for sharp pix. I’m headded home today so till next week…(still no internet at home [:(])
Let me do some net searching, Chad. Most of them are going to be easy to find, but I haven’t priced the 100-300mm f5.6L in awhile, so that might take awhile because it’s rare and only available used. I’ll get back to you.
Alrighty, here’s what I found.
First off, the 100-300mm f5.6L. There’s one in “Bargain” condition at KEH right now. When KEH lists a lens as a “Bargain,” it really is. I’ve had nothing but good luck with them. Lens is here. For $275, that’s a HECK of a lens! They also have other versions of that lens for a little more money in the EX to LN condition. Don’t know what you’re looking for that way.
The rest of the prices are B&H prices. B&H is where I shop. There may be cheaper prices out there, so if you feel comfy shopping go for it. Like KEH, I’ve had nothing but good luck with B&H, so that’s where I go. Adorama is another matter, though…
Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS $499.00 (With Rebate) - I haven’t used this one personally, yet, but I’ve read a lot of good press on it. It seems to be WAY better than the old 75-300mm IS.
Sigma 100-300mm f4 EX $1199. A little pricey, but if you get a good copy, they’re really, really good. Since it’s a constant f4, too, it’s a little better for low light.
There’s also an EFs lens – the 55-250mm IS – that’s OK for the price. There’s two problems with it, though. 1) It’s an EFs lens, so it won’t work with your D60. 2) It’s a kit lens, so the construction isn’t the strongest.
Also, I don’t know if you spend a lot of time all over the zoom range, but if you find yourself at 300mm most of the time, you might consider a prime, too. There are a couple good opti
Trying to post a document from word to reply - unable. Have windows XP, office 2007, any suggestions?
The only thing I could suggest is converting it to a .TXT file in Office, and then cutting and pasting the text here.
Try using Word Perfect, instead of the imperfect Word. I have had no trouble cutting and pasting thus. I have the WordPerfect OFfice X4.
