Well, I was down in the central valley of California hoping to find some newer locos’ to photo. UP has some of the dirtiest, rattiest looking locos’ running in this area that I’ve ever seen. I did see 3 BNSF Locos with a NS bringing up the rear but they were mostly hidden by a small copse of evergreens so no pics. Finally, headed north and home I found UP 3462 loafing along about 2 miles out of the Fresno yard along with UP 5506, 4457, 5394. Enjoy!
Fowler is south of Fresno. The streets that have ramps off of 99 in the Fowler area are Manning Avenue and Merced Street.
It looks like the curve just north of the San Joaquin River. By the way, that is no ordinary curve. I seem to recall reading that the section of straight track north of that curve is one of the longest ones. The next curve that I can recall is in southern Merced.
That’s the exact spot, but I could swear the offramp said something about Fowler. You could be right as usually I go into Kerman to see my brother and then go up Merced Ave. to bypass the Fresno area.
