IF you’re talking about those yellow “Insulated - Cushioned” plug-door RBLs that were common during the 1970s and early 1980s, you’re probably out of luck.
You might find a few of the newer ones working on CSXT, in their upper 190000 series. They’re blue now, like any other good CSXT box-type car.
O****R, if you’re talking about Fruit Growers Express mechanical reefers–the yellow cars with big black “The Chiller” markings, or off-white cars with blue “Solid Cold” markings, you’re probably out of luck again.
You’ll find what’s left of these on the Union Pacific, in the ARMN 900000 series, painted with a special blue “Union Pacific Chilled Express” logo.
Better hurry on these, because it’ll only be another two years before the age limit gets 'em.
Just this week I saw some ARMN 764000 series reefers with the high brake wheel, which means that UP must have done the Rule 88 extension on these. They may do the same with the FGE reefers.

Was reading your post and want to give you a link to a discussion we had here on this Forum in March of this years2011. Referencing the icing of early reefer cars in the Banana Trade off the Gulf Coast.
Thought you might enjoy it since your interest is in FGX(?) and some of the linked photos of reefer cars on the docks in NOLA, and possibly Mobile, Al. might strike you fancy.
