funny video

i was looking online and found this video,

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6849827282354742642

it shows a scout on a “wounderful” layout. kinda funny, makes ya wonder, how many scout sets did they go through to find one that worked?

it also mentions that all lionel sets have magne-traction, from what i gather this included the scout, did the scout have magne-traction?

Hello oscaletrains!

For those who havnt viewed the video before, you need to skip ahead to about 2:30 for the part about the layout.

That set was included in the 1950 catalog, which I have. It was sold as the set itself, but also had out to the side a “ad on” pack. (It wasnt really a pack, it just included a list of items and their prices) The layout featured on the page had the set with the list of things you can buy to make it. The only difference from the video is that it included manual 027 switches and track, and the video included O gauge switches and track. The other is that the list didnt include the # 919 bag of grass. It included all of the accessories featured in the video.

Yes, it did have magne-traction. If you would like me to take a picture of the page, I would be happy to do so.

Thanks,

Grayson

i would apreciate a copy of that page

Good job. Great video.

The end showed the Berk with the Baldwin drivers that did not come with magnatraction. Magnatraction was offered with sintered iron spoked wheels.

Kurt

yeah i was shure that not “all” locomotives had magnatraction.

while we are on the subject of magnatraction, I have an old UP alco 202, its my only locomotive with magnatraction, and i want to know more about it, like why did they paint it orange?

The #202 Alco was produced from 1957 to 1960. Also, all previous Alcos came in A-A sets. This was the first ‘A’ unit to be offered without another unpowered ‘A’ unit. I’m not shure why they painted it orange.
