Garden-railway etiquette for visitors
I have hosted numerous public open houses.
I have yet to have an open house where someone did not suggest how I should do this or that. It comes with the territory and I laugh it off. My favorite response to that is 'well, I made it this way because that’s the way I wanted it!"
Also, as a host, I try and greet the people coming to see the layout. Often, I have overheard that other hosts do not approach their visitors and engage them. You will have numerous personal touches to your railroad that a first time visitor may not notice. Share them!
Be prepared for odd and off the wall the questions!! LIke what happens when it rains ? Or did you put all this out just for us ???
