Garvey green hopper

I have got three green hoppers from Garvey (Evans 4780 Covered Hopper). They are great models but I do not like the extreme intense green paint. I would like to tone them down, weather them. My problem is that I can not find any photos of prototypes of that Garvey intense green hoppers. Did they bleach out, did they get dirty, did they have lots of rust? I do not know and don not want to ruin the models.

Any pointers to prototype photos would be great.

This is a patch job on an old GGIX Covered Hopper, but the result is what you are looking for.

Rick, thanks for the photo. I did find that one but I did not understand if it is a weathered green GGIX car with some patches and new lettering or “another” green car.

The patch lines up perfectly with the Garvey Lettering. It’s pretty clearly a former GGIX car. Here’s a few more; on the first one you can actually sort of see “GARV” under the paint:
