GE 25-ton

A long time project is finished. It started in 2006 with some breaks. Now this little engine is ready for service. I wanted a good running switcher. Therefore I decided to scratch build it from brass sheet. This gives some weight. Now my little gem can pull about 6 cars on level track, like the prototype.

Here you can see it moving. Look and listen! I’m waiting for a friend with the ESU programmer. Then it will get another sound.

This engine is named after Otto Stern who was awarded the 1943 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Wolfgang

He does that with both hands out the window! Amazing!

OUTSTANDING! At first glance, I thought it was the Grandt Line model. At least yours will pull 6 cars.

Beautiful job.

I hope that smoke is on purpose…

That is really cool! I love little switchers, and this one looks especially neat. I like the paint scheme for it too.

Out of curiosity, what did you use for a motor and drive train system to power it? Is it something commercially available, or did you have to piece it together?

Noah

That’s my camera, Canon PowerShot. Problems with the light. [:)]

The driving unit comes from Hollywood Foundry. Just suitable for H0.

Wolfgang

This creeper runs so slowly - he has much leisure time. You see it in the vid. [:)]

Wolfgang

Beautiful work, Wolfgang. [tup] The Kadee coupler looks huge on that little bugger.

Now I think it’s time for a little street running. [8D]

Very nicely done

[bow]

Smooth runner also for such a small loco !

Room for a Mini Tsunami ?

It has got an ESU Loksound micro.

Wolfgang

Excellent Job. I was shocked to hear sound coming from it as well.

Nice paint job, Wolfgang! May I suggest you replace the couplers with #58s if possible?

Is that a radio antenna on the cab roof or a whistle, air powered?

Mark

There’s limited space. The couplers are Kadee 30 Series. I haven’t seen those suitable to #58.

On the roof is a Firecracker Antenna. The whistle at the front of the cab is made of 0.2mm wire and some insulating tube.

Wolfgang

Very impresive looking little loco. How is it powered? Inquiring minds want to know.

[:)]

But don’t me ask how tight it is! With Decoder, resistors, wires.

Wolfgang

Fantastic little locomotive! It is incredible how well it runs, and it even has sound! Very impressive.
