GE Transportation and union fail to reach labor agreement

MANAGEMENT CAN GUARANTEE YOUR MORTGAGE PAYMENT -

CAN YOUR UNION ?? THINK

UNIONS ARE ON THEIR WAY OOUT - IT IS NEARLY OVER FOR UNIONS -

( CHEAPER WAGES IN CHINA ETC )

The union has two choices. Either take what GE is offering. Or join the recipient class.

No non-union employer will hire a former union worker in this economy. Why hire somebody with a known track record of poor workmanship and ludicrous expectations? A former union worker will probably start agitating the existing workers by using fantasies of unfair treatment. Therefore, it is in the union worker’s best interest to take whatever GE is offering, stop agitating, and produce a product that can compete with the non-union product. The days of union thuggery in the private sector are coming to an end.

GE locomotives have to compete with the competition and at a profit for GE. Otherwise the investors will demand the end result of GE departing the locomotive market. Investors, unlike socialists, don’t believe in investing money to feel good about themselves. Investors invest money with hopes of a return higher than the rate of inflation.

an interesting question is will they sell the locomotives made in Texas 20% cheaper?

Corporate greed abandoning 950 highly skilled employees.

even though I am a union member Unions have yo bend some look what happened at Hostess

Susan, I do not see that the workers are being abandoned. The jobs are being moved to Texas. Perhaps GE will allow and possibly even encourage those workers who wish to transfer to Texas the opportunity to do so as non-union employees. However, if the union says that such a move would invalidate their pension or savings, then it could be the union that is giving the employees “the rigid rosey red rod of reality.”

Loren, they might - if that’s what it takes to sell the units.

I wonder what Guse has to say about successful companies like Costco which has a decently paid unionized work force that also has benefits, the management structure has their perks & bonuses and works well with its employees all the while selling products at great prices AND MAKES A PROFIT?

Eff the Walton’s too.

JUST THROWING OUT THIS THOUGHT==WHY IS TEXAS NOW THE FASTEST GROWING STATE IN THE UNION…??? GE CAME ,LOOKED WITH BOTH EYES AND LISTENED WITH AN OPEN MIND…AND STAYED…

Let me see if I have this right, Susan. Make a profit, do better than the competition, expand the market, sell more product (locomotives) hire more workers…repeat cycle.

Is that what you mean by cororate greed?

I fail to see what the argument is here???
If the argument is where will G.E. build locomotives, obviously it will be with non-uninoized workers who work for less and have a lower standard of living. Will the 20% be reflected in the price of locomotives?
If this is the argument, then Texas is up to bat. next Mexico and then possibly China? Texas with or with out non unionized workers will not be able to compete for very long. So long for that argument!

If the argument is about unionized workers, I find it hard to believe that so many people sincerely believe that they are the
root of all evil? If that is the case they, are simply ignorant of past history, labor laws, the Great depression corporate greed, or simply just reiterating Good Ole Down South Republican Mantra?
No matter whether the USA work force is non-unionized, they cannot compete against Mexican, India, Korea, Singapore or China.
The game is already in the ninth inning.
Good Ole USA is no longer number One, and a non unionized work force, and a lower standard of living won’t save the day!
