General Electric Heavy Duty freight cars?

I think that I’ve seen pics of such beasts but can’t recall where or find them. Can someone please tell me what their reporting marks would be and where the pics are hiding?

Thanks

[:P]

Howdy, Dave,

Reporting marks GEX

Road numbers, 40002, 40005-40007, 40010 (Schnabel car), 80000,80002,80003.

When I Googled “General Electric heavy duty flat cars,” the first hit had the reporting marks listed. Links were to equipment diagrams and specifications. These things have up to 20 axles!

Happy hunting for photos.

I have pics of a 12-axle WESTINGHOUSE (WECX) heavy duty flat delivering a stator used in the construction of the Barney M. Davis Power Station in Corpus Christi, Texas ca. 1980. I am in the process of scanning these and other pics, in advance of donating the original prints to a university archival/ history research center. I will get these scanned and post them unless a WECX car is too off-topic for a GEX thread…

[banghead] DOH! [banghead] That’s exactly what I was looking for. [tup] Must have left them in my old PC. [D)] I was searching at work and I suppose the setup was censoring me out for some reason. [%-)]

. No, I just happen to be looking for GE today. It’s great of you to provide the pictures. Thanks.

Thanks everyone. [^]

There is an excellent article in either 1972 or 1974 in Trains regarrding bthe Westinghouse cars. Good enough for me to kitbash and scratch build one.

WECX103 Westinghouse 24-wheel heavy-duty flat car used to deliver stator for CPL Barney M. Davis Power Station in Corpus Christi, Texas. Carried from Corpus Christi yard over Naval Air Station railroad about 12 miles to about 1 mile SW of navy base-- closest rail point ton power plant. Electrical equipment to be trucked the last three miles to the Barney Davis construction site.

about the published scale drawing… My index says
