Genesis and Atlas Trucks: Compatible?

Hello, all.

I’m basically scratch-building a F9A/B set-Burlington Northern BN-1&2. I’m going to use Genesis frames with Highliners bodies. My question relates to the Genesis trucks-

I need Type ‘M’ trucks, however, Genesis only has Type ‘B’ trucks. I do know that the Genesis tricks are very similar to Atlas trucks, which a Type ‘M’ sideframe/truck has been produced. Are the trucks or sideframes interchangeable? Could I take Atlas sideframes (900815) and put them onto the Genesis trucks? If not, can I put Atlas trucks (890300) on a Genesis frame/drive?

Keeping in mind that Genesis trucks differ greatly from Blue Box trucks, any input is much appreciated.

You could cut the outside brake shoes off and use a snubber from a Blue Box SD40-2. Or try to find the Bloomberg M sideframes from a Genesis GP38-2 or GP50

I have just now noticed that Athearn did in fact release Type’M’ trucks, however I can’t seem to find them individually.

I could only use them off of GP38-2s, as they are the only Genesis type m trucks.
