did they camouflage trains and locomotives in europe (not eastern front) if so does anyone have a camo pattern.
thanks.

I don’t believe the Germans camouflaged their locos. I’m a bit of a WWII buff and I have never seen a photo of a camouflaged german loco. As far as rolling stock goes, I have seen photos of rail artillery and they were usually painted gray, often covered with camouflage net. If you watch old video footage of Allied planes strafing German trains, you can get a good idea what they looked like. Good luck!
The Germans DID camo many of their engines, in a wide variety of schemes. Most were just either a random zigzag of buff down the black sides, but some received the full three-color treatment. As with German armor, there wasn’t a real camouflage “pattern”, just unit standards, thick paint, used crankcase oil as a thinner, a broom, and the artictic talents of the guy holding the broom.
Review USAAC gun camera footage for references to German camo train patterns (and how well they worked!)
Liliput have a camoflaged WW2 German loco in their range - photo here which might be of use for painting: http://www.bachmann.co.uk/images1/train0737_65783.gif
I’ve seen those 1:35 Br52s in stores near here - very impressive! Only snag is I know I wouldn’t have the patience to complete one. Building one of the “Leopold” rail-mounted guns in 1:35 (modified to run on G scale track) or 1:144 (modified to run on N scale track) is rather tempting though, especially given how cheap the kit is for the 1:144 scale one…
I wonder how much white paint they used on trains heading to the Russian front ? ? as there is 7 months of 55 below zero weather to contend with.
Three color pattern camo with dazzle paint.

Lilliput do two locos in camo liveries, winter and summer.
They also produce a armoured scout train in grey or camo, I think it’s revell who do the kits for it in 1/35 as I’ve got one a few years back and put it on a LGB chassis.
Good job guys! I never knew german locos used camo except for maybe armored trains. I had read somewhere that 70-80% of german trains were on the eastern front and many of the remaining trains were pressed into service transporting prisoners to death camps (what a waste of resources).
