getting a job in Tn as a conductor

I have been trying to get hired on with CSX since October 2006. I have been through the pre screening with A.M.D.G. in Atlanta and have been selected. I was originally told I would be attending school in October but am still waiting. I have had three start dates since October and all have been canceled. I was curious if this is normal and if anyone has any sugestions. I call the school atleast once a month and they continually tell me that it is going to be soon but soon never seems to come. I spoke with the school a few days ago and was given a new date of July 2 for the Etowah, TN yard. I was curious if there is anyone out there who can shed some light on this whole process.

Traffic has been down most of the year and existing forces have experienced cut offs (layoffs in the popular non-RR vernacular) so it is likely that planned hiring has slowed as a result.

I just recently got hired by CSX for the Nashville Yard. I went through the AMDG process. In order to be considered for a class date you will need to pay the $4,500 up front. Waiting for them to give you a class date wont work. If you need assistance with funding your school, you can ask for the code to get a direct loan for your schooling.

Etowah has experienced furloughs for that yard. If you ask to work out of the Radnor yard while you are waiting for a position for Etowah to open you may get hired sooner. Go to the division office in Nashville and ask to speak to the Human resources rep for the Nashville Division. 3000 Seaboard Drive Nashville is the address. Go in person around 9:00 am local time and you may get the chance to go to school.

I’ll also note that most CSX locations are moving away from AMDG to direct hire. You might want to contact CSX to see if that’s the case.

I appreciate the information. I payed my tuition in full back in October so that is part of my frustration. In reference to the Etowah yard, how long have they been on furlough there? And I also heard that CSX is thinking of going away from hiring from AMDG and going to direct hire. Do you think that may be part of the problem?
