Glacier Park trip pictures

Hi everyone,

I took a short trip up into Glacier National Park yesterday and thought you might like to see a small amount of the park in pictures.

I have more but I don’t think any of you would appreciate 19 pictures in one post [;)] and that’s just the ones I decided to convert to 640x480. I’ve decided to get a season pass to the park this year and intend to try and go every other week to look around so who know’s what’s to come on pictures from there.

Take care,
Jack

Went to Glacier when I was a kid, about 10 yrs. old. My family camped there for a week. I’ll never forget it. It was our first camping vacation. Nothing ever compared to that experience. Great pic’s.

WOW i like your pictures , i was never their , i would like to be fishing in that big lake .BEN

Jack, what a beautiful place. I have never been there, but, may need to plan a vacation for next year.

Jack I am impressed we don’t have much like that in Oz, we more into deserts and stuff like that, though we do have the Snowy Mountains.

Where is it, in the Rockies?

I have seen some famcy mountain type scenery in the Alps ie Swiss, Austrian and Itailian and they look different to that though, not worse not better but different.

O.K guys what railroad was famous for running through the heart of this breathtaking park?

A few years ago we took a train trip to Glacier. That sparked my interest in the Great Northern Railroad of which I now model.

Ian,
Yes it is in the Rockies. The Park is on the United States side of the US/Canadian border. There is an adjoining park in Canada that is called Waterton National Park. The closest entrance to the park is about 25 miles from my house.

Here is some more pictures from that day I only resized 19 of the 48 my wife took so there is more that could be done. http://www.mylargescale.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=30602

I have heard rumors of a dinner train begining to be run between Whitefish station and Glacier Station, but I will have to investigate that further to find out for sure.

For those of you that have been I hope this brings back good memories.

For those that haven’t it is a very beautiful place they do have a lot of areas that allow easy hiking and even one that the path is an elevated boardwalk.

Enjoy,
Jack

Jack absolutely bloody beautiful mate, just wonderful.

I particualry liked the shot of the doe (I take it is a female deer, no antlers that i could see), did you know we have marsupial deer in Australia; they are called kangaroos, well thats my theory anyway.

You have restored my inerest in North America, I will be there in 2007, I know about over 100 families on Vancouver Island that want to do a house swap with people in Australia, what is it like does anyone know? is it far from where those wonderful photographs were taken?

Good lookin’ pics there! Beautiful scenery!

Ian,

Try this for some information on Vancouver Island and the area http://www.vancouverisland.com/

It looks to be around 750 miles or 1206 kilometers
about 13 - 14 hours ( there a metric conversion for time? [(-D] drive time.
But I am sure there is plenty to see along the way and probably many different routes that you could take to get here from there.

take care,
Jack
