What is the best kind of glue to use on resin parts? The plastic glues I have don’t have any effect on them.

You need CA (Cyanoacrylate or Super Glue), like Jet or Zap, for resin kits. I prefer a medium viscosity one like Super Jet.

You can also use a two part epoxy. Be sure to wa***he parts in warm (not hot) soapy water and allow to dry. I also give them and extra rince in rubbing alcohol to be sure all parting agents have been removed.
fritzvb,
Make sure the soap is a gentle one like Ivory. I like the idea of the extra rubbing alcohol rinse.

Thanks for the information and suggestions. I have already washed the parts off. I do that with all my plastic kits too. Now I’ll give the Super Jet a try if I can find it around here.

Super Glue Gel works also.
Personally, I’m a 5 minute epoxy junkie. It dries fast, is clear, and is sandable and paintable. The big advantage it has over superglue is that it will never leave that chemical haze on your parts after it’s dried. Superglue will haze a clear part (and some other parts too) in a heartbeat, rendering the part useless.
Use the cheapest, thinnest, runniest ACC you can buy. That’s what all the “professional” resin freight car builders use. Believe it or not, the cheap stuff has the strongest bond. The “super” ACCs or ones with magical gap-filling or quick-dry properties are basically the same as the cheap stuff, but with fillers added. Those fillers weaken the bond and the bond life of the ACC.
The ACC hazing only happens because too much of it is being applied. ACC is supposed to be used SPARINGLY; a little dab’ll do ya.
Maybe that’s my issue.[8D]
Also remember that the Handi Bond oderless does not haze clear plastics UNLESS you get finger oils on the plastic near the area being “glued”. It is great for projects like installing glazing into brass cars.
