does anyone know just when Great Northern U25b #2500 and/or other U25’s where painted in the "big sky blue scheme? thanks, mike.
I checked the ‘rrpicture’ archive and 2501 & 2517 made it to the BN merger in 1970 still in orange. the 2510 was still in orange in 1969. GN started painting equipment in blue in 1967 - so they would have been repainted into the Big Sky Blue scheme after then…

The 2500 is listed in the Color Pictorial V. 2 as being painted big Sky blue. It lists 10 u25s as being painted blue. No paint dates listed.
