Since getting started for the time in 30 years way back on Dec 18th or so I’ve
Cleaned out 13 years of packed garage, when wife said it couldn’t be done.
put up the old 4 x 8 on two sawhorses. Also have a two drawer stand for center board support.
Found old trains. (Found packed away in first wife’s old dresser)
Found old train track. ( Really hard, hadn’t seen that since 1994.)
Put up two loops of track, found out only 1 power supply still worked. Gee after 30 years of sitting, why should everything run well? Bought two used ones at LHS. Yes honey, they were free. Bought EZ command DCC system. Tried it was free, but she found the receipt, so it was look how much money I saved. 6. Rolled my favorite engine right off track, table onto concrete. Concrete won. Met new old friend. He likes trains. He fixed 1 other old loco by cleaning and oiling so I had a running engine. [angel]
Found old Christmas village buildings, and put them, and batting up so I had a Christmas town. Also installed Christmas lights in a chain thing. The work perfect around the layout, in 1 day I had two trains, lights, and a villiage.
Santa comes and sets up two Thomas trains under the tree for 6 year old son. Santa and his helper Mrs. Claus, finish setting up trains and daughters computer at 3am. Santa tired. [|)][|)]
During December and January trains cars have magically been showing up here. Something called Ebay. Yes honey they were free !
New projects.
1.Convert 4 x 8 into 14 x 8 with space between edge and track so trains don’t roll of table. By the way Christmas lights are staying so far, they keep trains from rolling off table as well as blink pretty.
2. Search thru 8000 books and websites, picked a dual level layout. I have all the track except for a do
Hi turbo one
My goal for 2004 was to obtain a second steam locomotive this has more or less been done still waiting for brass name plates so it can be delivered.
For 2005 the following goals exist
1 To make and install 4 only fixed distant signals have the masts the triangles (read signal arms) just have to work out how to make finiale’s.
2 Achieve first successful piece of scratch built rollingstock
have bought the machines that should help that no end
3 Complete the main line loop (some how I doubt it) as this is a large
undertaking that will also include a 6.2m long bridge so may only have the 30’ X 10’ loop with two long tails at the end of the year
4 Add a pioneer branch to the line
but those I think are reasonable goals for this year
regards John
1 Want to put a loop into the shed from outside. Already took excess junk out of
the shed, placed it in yard. Could not decide which to throw.
Excess junk returned to the shed. Must make more effort.
2 Finally wire up the rest of the jumper wires and points(switches).
3 Find some means of carrying all the stock from the house to the shed everytime I
want to run the railroad.
4 Have a successful G Scale Society Open Day.
Tim , you should talk to my wife. She won`t believe the Ebay freebies I keep getting.
GOALS
MY GOALS for 2005 , is add some more track , a new R-S-3 WITH THE COMPANY name i retired from , its to be out in june or july, and a few new rolling stock… ben[:)]
Hey there,
2005? Always looking to grow the line. This year will see the loop closed up on my indoor line so Large Scale can run year round. Working on the benchwork today! Built it so it doubles as storage for a whole lotta’ stuff without a place to put it. [;)] Of course FAMILY tops the list. I like to keep everyone involved with what I am doing and vice-versa. All the best in your achievments everyone! Later eh…Brian. [:D]
To get my engines and rolling stock tuned up and ready to run for the year by Feb 27th. That’s the day of the next train show that my club is involved in and I’ve promised to bring equipment in to run.
To get my current layout up to snuff by May 15th. That’s the day I host our train club’s monthly meeting.
To get my new layout started. I’m planning on modern, as in the last ten or so years, so lots of scratchbuilding to do. At a minimum, I’d like to get my water feature in this year. That will at least help me in the direction I want to proceed and will get me moving on a definate plan. Right now everything is just a jumble of ideas. The only thing that I have set in stone is an elevated/subway system. Everything will be built around that.
Lay track on the west side of the garden, there will eventaully be three “cities.” These will be three small gardens connected by rail. I plan to finished the garden section of Two Trees, Texas. (pictures as development continues).
Complete structures for Two Trees, Texas. Currently I have a depot for Two Trees that some of you have seen at my webpage, a large warehouse that I may sell to rebuild with better techniques, and a 85% complete post office. I will build a small downtown row of building added to this post office. A general store and bank will be a must. (picture to come)
Improve rolling stock to include other road names. I have a flat car, box car, caboose and passenger coaches; I will make a diversity of roadnames while adding a few more homeroad pieces.
You might be surprised at how you will feel if you clear all your junk out. When we were trying to sell our house at Chipping Norton in Sydney; on advice from real estate people we started an activity called de- cluttering, to make the house look bigger and airier so it would help to sell it. We did this over many months and what we ended up with was just enough bits and peices including furtniture to live comfortably.
It took as a while to sell it and we become accustomed to this minimilistic living and we got to like it, it is definitely a better way to live. we still had 54 cubic metres of belongings when we moved though.
Now when we set our place up here on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland we aimed for just that and it worked the living is very easy and very clean and uncluttered.
This house is 300 sq metres ie 3300 sq feet with white tiles on the floor just about right through and it is like living in heaven, it is so user friendly.
