I will be bringing all the stuff they require: Drivers License, Birth Certificate, diploma. I am going to bring updated contact info for all the employers I list on my application.
What’s this going to be like? I have a good work record (no gaps), a clean driving record the last seven years (okay, one moving violation–nobody’s perfect), and a clean criminal record.
After that I have my drug test and physical.
If I pass, how soon would they ask me to ship out to McDonough, GA?
Congrats if you made it this far.You sound like you should have the job providing you do have the good background, driving record and work record like you mentioned, and you pass the physical.
The drugscreen is something that I’ve heard different opinions on .Someone mentioned they go as far as pulling a hair out and checking ?They didn’t do that 16 years ago.But don’t worry if you haven’t a worry,if you know what I mean.
Just go relaxed and don’t get over exicited because it can make your bloodpressure go crazy [:O] .
Rememeber your going to get a job,and not going for a lineup.Be polite and friendly.
Oh, and if your near a railroad facility, don’t druel…[(-D] .
You have made it this far if everything checks out just the drug, booze and posabality strength test and you will be in good luck stop fretting and relax.
I took a drug test for UP and they never asked for any hair.
Background check is just one of the many steps. At least they asked you directly. The guy at UP called my boss to ask for some info and I hadn’t even given notice yet. The guys at the hiring session told us not to.
Have you done the physical abilities test, and the medical screening?
Study your ars off in GCOR class, there is a lot to learn, and it will keep you from getting hurt.
Congratulations, and good luck on the next steps. I envy you, and only wish I was about 20 years younger and a lot healthier. I thought about doing this a year ago, but things have changed. I don’t think they’d want a 45 year-old with neuro-muscular problems, and on Sinemet 6xper day.
I had to go through this once before, and it was pretty painless. This was about 8 years ago when I was hired full time at Polaroid (who?).
Evidence of drug use apparently lingers longer in the hair than in the fluids. I guess “clean now” isn’t good enough.
That is a rotten way to have your boss find out that you’re thinking of changing jobs. At least they’re being thorough. It’s little wonder that such a small percentage of applicants make it to the hiring stage.
Just relax and be honest with them. You will go to McDonough as soon as they have a new class starting. From what I understand they are working three shifts at the training center, at least that is what I have been told. Where did you hire out at?
I’ll be at the Buckeye Yard here in Columbus. It’s good that I live only about two miles away. I can hear the yard every night.
I have zero concerns about drug testing. I don’t drink, smoke, or do drugs. I don’t have any problem with people who choose to drink or smoke – I just don’t want to.
I should be okay with the background check as well – no bigs gaps, and I am pretty sure everyone would give me a thumbs-up to a new employer.
I guess my main concern is just the jitters of not really knowing what this is going to be like unitl I do it.
