Hello. I’ve created paint schemes for my engines and one involves using microscale dulux gold lettering and one uses microscale gold lettering. Are there any commercial paint colours that can be used to match these microscale lettering colours?
I’m not sure about getting a close match, but I recently used some metallic brass colored acrylic craft paint, and I was very happy with the result. I think it’s actually more “gold” than gold paint.
I am not sure you will find an exact color match. Gold lettering is metallic, and ‘delux’ gold is a yellow color.

Does this mean that I should try using yellow to match the dulux gold? What colour could be used to pass as gold paint?
Can you photograph or scan the color and post it?
Here is the link for the gold lettering: http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=90033&Category_Code=ALPHA&Product_Count=106

These are the lettering styles and colours I’ll be using.
To be real about it, you need to get the paint and paint a bit of scrap and let it dry and then see if the color match is close enough for you, under your layout lighting. Light colors like yellow and gold are effected by the color of the underlying material. For consistant results I’d prime with light gray auto primer and then paint the yellow or gold paint on top of the primer. Then hold it up next to the paint or decals you want to match and decide if the match is good enough for your eyes. There is a LOT of difference between sunlight, incandescent lamps, and fluorescent lamps when it comes to color matching. Do the matching under your layout lighting.
