Pardon me if I’m posting in the wrong area, but I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good book on ALCO. Specifically I’m interested in their steam loco’s and want something that has history and development of the company rather than just a “coffee table picture book”.
Thanks in advance!
Alco Centurys Vol.1 by Withers Publishing (www.witherspublishing.com) is a great ALCO book you would enjoy. Volume 2 will cover 6-axle production, and Volume 3 will cover post Alco MLW production, both will be released soon.
Here is one for you to check on . . . The American Locomotive Company A CENTENNIAL REMEMBRANCE by Richard T. Steinbrenner. This is a large book in size and has well over 500 pages. Much of the book is devoted to steam engines.
If you have a copy of Trains magazine you can find an ad in it for the book.
