Today at the LHS, I happened to stumble upon a couple of Intermountain Chessie/C&O 2-bay cement hoppers. They had them marked at $27.95, which is virtually retail, but I figured I’d go ahead and buy them. The last ones on eBay were at $31.95(3 over retail) and the shipping was crazy. I think it was $8. I’d been looking for these anyway. I believe they’re sold out, and there sure as heck aren’t any on eBay. So I bought both, and a bottle of grimy black paint. It was nearly $70 with tax, but it was worth it to me. These Intermountain cars are amazing. Air hoses, see-through roofwalks, Kadees, and metal wheelsets. This isn’t my first Intermountain, but I’ve never actually taken time to look at all of the detail.
$65 for two Intermountain hoppers may sound crazy, but if you stumble upon a rare Intermountain, I recommend you buy it.
