At the risk of causing a whole new thread about the future of the LHS, I need to ask if anyone knows of any good shops for HO scale rolling stock in the Oklahoma City area? I will be visiting there soon and will have some time on my hands to go shopping if so.
LION remembers the old Nassau Hobby Shop in Freeport, on Long Island. He was big into American Flyer, and had a nice layout in the shop. I loved that stuff, but even then it was hard to come by new, besides, the old was better.
Me thinks the local hoby shop has mostly gone the way of the Sabre Toothed Tiger. Certainly, they are no longer “Train Shops” but must diversify into many fields. That said, a new shop opened up in Dickinson. A husband and wife team, the wife is into the railroads, and the husband is into the other stuff. But I do not get over there very often, and they would have nothing that I would want for my layout anyway. Mostly I buy cable, relays and other stuff like that.
Well there might be a shop on Fifth and Main, but then again there might not be. I do not even know if the have a Fifth and Main. But They should not be too hard to find, anyway:
Having been to OK city a number of times while driving a truck. You would have better luck finding a cattle feeder lot, than you would a LHS. Looking through MRR Mags retail directory in the back of the Mag. has no listings at all for Oklahoma, let alone one in OK city. Good luck, in Your hunt. [:)]
