Gov'ner, meet The Twins (Not dial-up Friendly)

You’d think with the Gov. coming to open a branch line the publicity would a least rate Geep let alone Buffalo and Pittsburgh’s SD. But obviously the B&P is just as proud of what local railfans call The Twins as we are.

And it appears the twins will be the main motive power in our area–along with the Geeps.

Notice in the third photo the Train Station restaurant. It opened in 1906 and when the mayor of Punsxytawny and the Mayor of Indiana rode to town, to initiate passenger service of the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway, thousands of people turned out. Not quite as many today. The station later became a freight office for the B&P–now they just make good food, have nostalgic photos of old trains, and a G scale 0-4-0 pulling a modern coal hopper around the top of the dining room walls.

I thought someone would respond. How many people have seen a pair of 50 year old switchers hauling executive passenger cars?

Chip,

Do you know what type switchers they are? They have the slanted hood that drops down toward the cab. I’m guessing either SW’s or NW’s? I kinda like the color scheme…

Tom

American Switchers are nearly as big as some of our road loco’s!! Coolpic’s thanks Chip.

Ken.

SW1500’s

I am going to have to get some. Nice pics!!!

Hey Mouse, those SW1500’s are old, but not that old. ;> The model was introduced in 1966, some were built as late as 1973, so that makes them close to 40 years old. Still an impressive sight though! Thanks for sharing!

CNW jay, atlas has MP15dc in CNW with sound comeing out soon.(i think NOV.) not the same, but it is a CNW switcher with sound.
