Hi,
I was wondering if there are any gp30s left in shortline service today. I can’t seem to come across many pictures of them. Also, anyone know where any of the ex-NS gp30’s went? Thanks for your help!

Bnsf uses some GP -30’s as remote engines .
A while back I had seen some NS GP-30’s in yard service .
I think there’s a short line out west that has an ex WC exx CNW. Not sure what the line is called. WC 703, ex SOO 703 was in service untill 99-01ish time frame. She’s been sitting at colfax for a while.

I remember seeing SOO GP-30’s like this one when they took over the MN&S, used them for a few runs in 1982 before standardizing on highnose GP-9’s (or sometimes a GP and a MILW MP-15).
BTW SOO’s GP-30’s rode on Alco trucks from traded in FA’s.
The Fillmore & Western,in southern California, owns at least one GP30,which they use on excursion trains,as well as freight .
Thank you for your help folks. That’s just what I needed. The reason I ask is because walthers has NS gp30s on sale this month, and thought I might “need” one. There goes another 60 bucks []
GP30 and GP35 units are regulars on BNBSF Stockton - Sacramento turns usually in Santa Fe livery.
They are also regulars on an interesting BNSF turn out of Fernley, NV to Sparks, NV. Through BNSF trains running on the UP, exSP Overland Route, drop and pick cars at Fernley. UP crews makeup the BNSF local turn with BNSF power and run it to Sparks. Then returns to Fernley with outbound cars.
