GP40MC

What is a GP40MC? A GP40X + Wide Cab?

That’s it (almost). The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has a bunch of ex-CN GP40w2s with a generator pack. Some foamers call them GP40MCs, I call 'em GP40WH2s. BD the locos are the same no matter what we decide to call them. The original GP40X, EMD 433 is still around on CN, while the GP40Xs that should be called GP50xs are being retired by their owners, except NS, which is turning them into “GP38-3s”

NS got rid of their GP-40X’s a few years back and are converting their GP50’s to GP38-3’s.

Actually the first designation for the MTBA units was GP40LH-2 and where is that original GP40x (EMD 433) hiding? I can;t seem to find it listed in my Trackside Guide. Would that by any chance be IC 3140?

Are these the GP40s with the FP45/F45 cabs? Classy looking engines. Saw a MARC one in Washington D.C. last summer.
