Who the hell uses grafitti, if that is how you spell the word, on their models? I know that I sure as hell don’t. P.S.-Forgive the language, I’m from Texas.
Ok, I admit that I put it on a couple as a decal expieriment. I usually like my models to look realistic, but as far as graffitti goes, screw it, I can live without it and I’m not trying to offend people!

I don’t like graffiti on my own models, but on the other hand I’ve had good luck selling tagged cars on eBay.

There are many things I would put on a model RR that probably would not go down to well.
This is a family forum so I cannot say where to stick the graffiti and it isnt on the model RR.

this has been a really hot topic, every time I drop into the forums I see it. I will admit that in the quest for realistic trains I do apply graffiti to some of my cars, I model the mid 80’s which is when graffiti really started to become visible. love it or hate it, I can do without it believe me, it is a fact of railroad life. I think that graffiti is all a matter of ones own opinion, my opinion is this, if we are going to spend infinite amounts of money on superdetailing a locomotive to make it look just like the real thing then therefore shouldn’t we pay similar detail to the cars they pull, like I said just my opinion. fire away…
I think graffiti on a rail car is as real as the sky being blue during a nice day. No it wasnt present or noticable before the 80’s, but its here now. I think most of the negative remarks are coming from those who model before that time. Everywhere you go now a days you see graffiti on everything which is unfortunate, but its real. So therefor, if your gonna make things look realistic, then just go ahead about your way, whether you like it of not. If you go onto ebay, the value shows, people spend big money for rolling stock with graffiti on it.

These are NYC subway cars in various paint schemes. Notice how quickly after ‘repainting’ by the transit authority when they get tagged again.
Personally, I think most of it is pretty ugly and distasteful. (Yes, I model before 1980. [tup]) However, I can appreciate the talent.
Whenever I go to a Cleveland Indians game downtown, I just hop on the RTA train that runs by the place where I work. The entire trip down and back is just strewn with graffiti next to the tracks. Although a majority of it is gang related signs and messages that I have no idea what it means, there is the occasional “mural” that is quite artistic in its own right. It’s still an eyesore. But at least it’s more pleasant to look at.
With that said, I’m glad I don’t have to deal with graffiti since I’m modeling in the early 40’s…[:)]
