Grand Forks, B.C.

My parents & I were in Grand Forks, B.C. for a couple of days. We checked out the rail yard to see what was happening and there was 5 lumber cars being loaded. This is after we thought that BNSF were no longer going there. So it looks good for the time being in Grand Forks.

Methinks the BNSF (né Great Northern), as well as the CP, VVE, and KRVR are long gone from Grand Forks. It is now served by the Kettle Falls Railway (KFR) and the Grand Forks Railway (GFR). Were they loading at the Pope & Talbot mill? Glad to hear they are still sending lumber out on rail. Here, in Shelby, MT we have a “re-load” facility. Lumber comes out of Canada on trucks and is loaded onto railcars for further distribution. Why it doesn’t come all the way on rail, I don’t know. Politics, or the silly Customs Services are suspects. BNSF appreciates the business.
