Justin,

A couple Green County questions for you…My last visit was in 2006 and it may be a while before I can get back.

  1. The Sugar River Bike Trail, was it originally Milwaukee Rd or Chicago and Northwestern? Sorry I can’t remember, or am I confusing it with the Elroy-Sparta Trail?

  2. On the Sugar River trail is that an Illinois Central crossing between Monticello and New Glarus? Where did it go to and from?

As you can see I’m in NC now. Wish I could be up there that’s a beautiful part of the country. Trains, Packers, Bike Trails, and cheese curds. What a place to be.

Thank you,

Bob Lipka

I’m thinking of driving over to this. How big of a show is it usually?

  1. the Sugar River Trail use to be the Chicago, Milwaukee, and ST. Paul RR CO.

2.The Badger Trail is the trail that crosses the Sugar River Trail. It was built by the Chicago, Madision & Northern Railroad Company. The Illinios Central operated it for 92 years. It starts in Freeport IL and travels north through Monroe WI, monticello WI, Belleville WI, and Basco WI. The Part from Basco WI - Madison WI is still under construction.

It is a good mix of layouts and venders. Unlike some shows it has enough of both to interest everyone. I have seen a list of the Layouts and it looks like their are layouts from most of the Scales. The only one i do not remenber is Z scale. I am part of a N-scale layout at the show that is 16ft by 22-24 ft and their are around 4 or 5 layouts that are bigger than us. It is loacated in Slice which has a ice rink in it during Winter months. Based on the layout list i saw on the show we have 15-20 layouts at the show. If you are looking at buying anything at the show i would say your best day is saturday. Like all train shows we have some venders who will only be here on saturday because they believe they will make the best money on saturday.

Thank you,

Bob Lipka

Its Next weekend

hope to see some of you there.

Another one I’m gonna hafta miss! I’d be there in an instant if my funds were not so restricted these days; sure wish that Powerball would cooperate!

You people in Wisconsin use a different calendar and numbering system than we do out here in the far, far reaches of the wild, wild West; out here the 26th falls on a Friday!

It makes sense when you consume as much beer per capita as us. [;)]

I’m looking forward to this, though. Nice to have a train show when the last thing I need to do is buy more trains!
