Greenburg Train Show

The weather forcast was chancy, but I drove down from Franconia NH to Wilmington MA to do the Greenburg show. It started to snow around the MA border and I passed six cars spun out in the ditch, each with a police cruiser doing that cop car light show. I kept my car on the road, and got there at opening time. Shriners auditorium, a big place. Lots of vendors, only about half of them selling HO. Lot of stuffed animals, diecast toys, Lionel, S-gauge, N and Z gauge. A pure Lego layout, even with a Lego steamer. Some really decent modular layouts, including a Euro theme layout with catenary strung everywhere. Never did figure out how they moved it without destroying the really nice catenary.

The crowd was a lot of guys, mostly older. A surprising number of women, many of whom were carrying or leading small children. All model rails should be so lucky as to have a significant other who will do a train show and mind the kids. Lots of kids, all well behaved, well dressed and adorable.

I didn’t buy much. I got rolling stock and unbuilt kits and kitbash projects running out my ears. The only good score I made was a sprue of molded plastic HO mailboxes for my residential properties. Didn’t find any decals. Did find some underset Kadees for my AHM Berkshire. My feet gave out around 1 PM but I stuck around til 3 PM.

All in all a worthwhile day.
