work a lot of work to make this thing and maintain it please forgive the issues its hard to maintain a 79’ stretch of HO track. our 79’ HO Stone Mining Railroad later on if u guys want ill do a video with a walkthrough of the yard and mine and show u all the buildings equipment etc
we even have a tipple cart full of stone in the front yard and a G scale caboose with a solar spotlight pointed at it
Lost it is right! Can’t imagine the work it took to put that together - is it point-to-point or is there a continuous run connection? Given experience with this layout, maybe you should weigh in on the “Roadbed Options” thread! Most astonishing to me is that the loco kept running with only one feeder probably a scale mile away (a couple glitches notwithstanding). Good advertisement for the electrical integrity of the UniTrack or whatever that is you used.
its a point to point the end goal is to have a Chert Rock Mine. and when it came to roadbed i used what i had i layed the track first and leveled off with sticks using the method that maitnance crews use i left piles of sticks at certain points of the track to cut back on time running back and fourth it took 2 days of work and being rained out by a pop up storm(5% my rear end that thing lasted a whole day) it was back to work as usual just cleaned and scrubbed the track well and the train was back up and running
what i use to scrum is the sponges the nail salons sell their orange in the middle and have the rough peice to file your nails its just enough not to be damaging like sand paper but clear heavy debris and buildup on your track. then after a sponge with the green rough side, then after that paper towels, then after that a sweep with the track cleaning car.
today if it all drys up nice were adding no-ox-id to preserve the track and help keep the electrical going strong and fix those small tad spots u saw where the train stopped a sec
im using that bachmann e-z track or whatever its called the crap that breaks every time you take an old section loose lol
thats the worst part those horn hooks on the track i snap them because its such a tight fit just pulling 2 sections apart
were still going strong with the train we added no-ox-id to keep a good condinuity and also it rustproofs the tracks and works out well everything except the tracks and some scenery gets put up each night.
i was out today clearing weeds from the sides of it and i ran the engines a lil bit just for the heck of it
tonights gonna be good too provided humidity hasnt kicked in yet i plan on running my RWD(cheap 15$) FA warbonnet around id say with HO outdoors about 60-70% is maintenance clearing brush/tree droppings. spraying insect nests. clearing downed branches near the right of way.
keeping tabs on track shift from rain, ground settling, etc plus part of the land dips and is a washway for rains so we raised 2 boards on logs and the water goes under the boards then the track sits on top of the boards. but yeah our train since we put no-ox-id on does not experience rust problems. or problems with track getting loose from the bedding.
if that were to happen we have a contengency 3 boxcars filled to the brim with mini screws and nails previously used on a model railroad to hold the track against the bedding (from pervious owner of our O-guage) in witch case some track is screwed down by the iron spike train musiem who previously owned my HO before i bought it from them
