I am going to be down in Hampton VA next month and I was wondering if there any sites people could recommend for Train Watching. Is there a place to watch the Coal Trains dump?
Gypsy;it’s been about 19 years since I’ve been in that area,but I don’t
recall many rail lines going through Hampton at all;other than the line that
goes over to Ft. Monroe,and the Chesapeake and Ohio’s 0 milepost.
To the best of my knowledge,to see any of the coal trains dumping,that’s
going to be in Newport News proper,almost down to Newport News Point.
I imagine cshaver can probably shed a bit more light on this topic that I can.
I was in the military then,at Ft. Eustis and drove all around that area railfanning.
Norge,Lightfoot,Williamsburg and Lee Hall were some of my favorite areas to go.
