Jonathan Luther “Casey” Jones mark’s his 150th birthday on Thursday, March 14 (1863.) In growing up along the DL&W in the 60’s, I would hear stores of the brave engineer who road 382 to the heavenly gate (April 30, 1900) while riding the electrics to Hoboken from the Trainmen and Conductor.
In honor of his birthday, asking the railroaders of today, is Casey’s dedication to life and duty still a model for today? Do you still talk about him while in the hold?
