Will Tony be there, behind a counter or something?

Actually, the only thing in Vermont is an automated switch board. Tony is located at an answering service located in New Mexico. JUST KIDDING! [(-D][(-D]
That would be great to go by there. Both Tony and Ken seem like very nice people. Heck! Who cares rather it’s a store or a garage, they are good to work with. [^]

Tony (and I guess Ken too) are two people I hope are making a decent living in this hobby. They seem to provide an excellent service to all of us, charge reasonable (if not darn close to the best) prices out there and everyone enjoys doing business with them. I am convinced that come time for me to go the DCC route, the purchase will be from Tony’s regardless of any price differential. These guys have earned it!!! Unless anyone tells me otherwise I believe that these guys will not push a system on a person that may not be the best choice given the customer’s wants and needs regarless of what the profit is to them.
Has anyone called Tony’s fully wanting to buy a particular system and then ended up buying another system after discussion with Tony and Ken? Did they indeed provide an unbiased objective opinion? What points did they bring up to make you change your mind? Do you think that you got a more appropriate system than you originally planned to purchase? Not that I doubt Tony and Ken, but they seem too good to be true in today’s world of bottom line is the only only line.

When I was looking for a DCC system to match my needs, I called Tony’s. I had already done some research and pretty much decided on Digitrax Super Chief. I asked if I had chosen the best manufacture for the job. The reply was for me to first describe what my layout plans were and what was the maximum number of Loco’s I thought that I would be running at one time.
Then they told me all all the different manufacturer’s systems that would match my needs. In fact , I was told I probably didn’t need such a powerful system as the Chief. Well, I went ahead and chose the Chief [;)] . The reply was a simple “OK, we’ll ship it tomorrow.”

How many companies would sit on the phone (their money fopr the call) with you for over an hour to make sure you’re getting what you really want and make sure it fits your needs?
Believe me, you’ll never be sorry if you call them, Tony is a great guy and runs a great store. Make sure if you stop in to let them know how wonderful they are. ![]()
I suspect you won’t find what you expect if you go there.
I have a friend who has a multi-million dollar silver jewelry business over the internet. If you go to his actual site you will find it located in a warehouse with a couple of offices with computer terminals and a large back room full of boxes and shipping equipment.
No showroom or provision for walk-in sales whatsoever.
I suspect Tony’s will be the same. Your best bet is to call or email them. As others have expressed above, they give excellent service.

Posting on this topic made me hunger for a new Loco so I called Tony’s. They have a 3000 sq ft shop.
From far off Australia i had pretty much decided on the Lenz system 100 for my DCC and when I spoke to folk around here the direction was "talk to Tony’, So I did, and they clarified a few matters by e-mail, I spoke by phone to the guys there to ensure i understood a particular point, then plavced my order. The good s came in good time and I had built a 16v AC transformer punching out 5amps, hooked it up, found the Bachmann 2-6-4 Spectrum was DCC ready, and I had the thing switching off and on its headlight and s-l-o-w-l-y pulling away from the programming track within an hour of taking the stuff out of the box. I was impressed. Good on ya Tony.
Ok, now this is sad, i live in Vermont and i have NEVER heard of Tony’s. a 3000sq ft store? must be he is in Burlington.
Where is he, whats his phone no.?
I live real close to Caboose Corner in Rockingham, VT. John owns the place and is a pretty good guy, helps me out quite a bit.

Tony’s is located in Pinewood Plaza, Essex Junction, Vt.
The way he described his shop was that it’s primary focus is on DCC with repair, installation, and of course shipping their products. They do have walk-in service as well.
