I recently placed an an order with Internet Trains .com and after six days they are still processing the order. Do they always take so long to ship items out? Are they reliable? First time user of them. Seen on here someone recommneded them and they did have cheaper prices.
I have. The order processing took a few days, but I had the stuff in a week and a half or so.
I have used them on several occasions. They tend to keep you in the dark and then behold your stuff shows up on your doorstep. I would use them again.

I placed an order with them earlier this year around March timeframe. They didn’t have 3/4 of the things I wanted and kept asking if I wanted to substitute for other items which I did. After this happened 4 times I cancelled the order.
Since then they have supposedily revamped their online system so that out of stock itmes don’t show.
I placed an order with them Friday for a couple of decoders and kadee couplers. I got a confirmation that they have the order. Hopefully by Monday I’ll get another email estimating a shipping date. We’ll see.

I have the same issue. I placed an order with them a few weeks ago. Heard nothing for awhile but if I logged on and checked order status it showed the items were being processed. Finally got an email from them this week saying my order should ship soon as one item is still in transit. They apologized for the delay.
I’ve used them in the past and the service was good. They redid their website recently and it is an improvement for the most part. However, it seems when an item is listed as “Available” that doesn’t necessarily mean “in stock”.
I’ve ordered decals from them a couple of times. Each time they did not have all of what I ordered, and sent me an email a day or two after I placed the order to let me know what they were shipping. Both orders got here in a reasonable time.
I think when they receive your order, they send someone to the store to buy it, on foot, and then ship it to you.
I have ordered things from elsewhere, at the same time as an order from Internet Trains, and received my order from the other company before IT gets around to “processing” my order.
Unless they are the only outfit that has what I need, I won’t order anything else from them.
I agree! They are the only store I have had trouble with. They don’t actually stock the items, I think. When they get you’re order they order the stuff and hope it comes in. I won’t do business with them again after waiting months and exchanging phone calls and e-mails for a couple of orders.
I have ordered from them only because they had the particular items I was looking for at a reasonable price. They have to be the slowest in processing and shipping, I’ve waited up to three weeks for an order. If you are in no hurry for your items go ahead and order from them, other than thatthey seem pretty reliable.
Yep, had bad experience with them too. Too slow to ship stuff, overall bad customer service reps who’s motto is “we are always right”. I was forced to take the problem to the management to get it resolved. I’ll never order from them again!
So far I’ve ordered things from Internet Trains twice… Both times it took one month from the time I placed the order to when it arrives on my doorstep.
I’m usually in no hurry to get the stuff I ordered (it’s only my hobby, after all… [:D] ), so I don’t mind the speed at which Internet Trains sends me my stuff. Some stuff such as decals and detail parts are just plain impossible to find in my LHSes so on-line retailers are pretty much my only option.
I placed one order with Internet trains about a year ago. The order arrived and was packed well. I can’t remember how long it took nor do I remember if it took an unusually long time to arrive.
Yes, like at lot of people have said, really slow, don’t respond very well, but eventually do get your stuff. Sometimes they are the place to get some of the odd things I want and am in no hurry about.
My experience is similar to the others. It took just over 3 weeks to get my stuff. And I don’t think they processed my order until I pressed them by email them after 10 days. Then one item got left out of my order with no notice; I didn’t know it until I received and reviewed my order. At least they didn’t charge me for it.
I would only use them again for items I couldn’t find elsewhere.
Yes, and never again for most of the above-mentioned reasons. I called in a $950 order by phone and the order-taker said she specifically checked and the items I wanted were all in stock and would be shipped the next morning – as I requested – because I needed them right away. Didn’t hear anything for 10 days, finally called them back and was told the stuff had never been in stock, was all on back order and maybe I’d have it in 2-4 weeks. Maybe.
First time screwed, shame on you. Second time, shame on me.
Yes, they are slow, but so was Internet Hobbies…both took nearly 4 weeks to get my stuff to me, although in fairness, Canada Customs and Revenue Agency is not the fastest gate to cross.
