Have lost correspondence between the CAB 2 controller and locomotive

From a exasperated new train hobbyist.

When I discovered my 1950’s train set last fall, I suddenly became once again enamored with the hobby.

Have gone out and purchased new equipment but am now thoroughly exasperated with the Lionel Legacy Command Control, CAB 2.

I am operating with an MTH Z4000 transformer, a Lionel Vision 3.1 in the controller , and a Lionel Vision Challenger locomotive.
