Hello Omaha, one of our locomotives is missing!

UP Butler lost a pair of Gp38’s - used overnight on Job 79 to Sheboygan. Took about 15 minutes to get the yard duck a warrant for observation flight. [:D] He found 'em pretty easily - but they wuz tucked away as well as you could in a yard equipped with cameraz.[:-^]

Found adjacent to the mains where a string of WI Rapids coal hoppers (all Up Fallen flags) was hiding them from everyone else working to get the locals built up and out of the yard.

you know that last axle does look like it was missing but it could be an incredibly lucky place for a shadow. but my vote is for the 5 axle[;)]

Let’s compromise - 5.5 axles. [^]

me too [:D]

The axle is there, its not hard to see it.

I too saw all 6 axles. Perhaps it got nailed by the M.P 7.8 detector in Plainfield (Renwick Road) and needed to be set out. I have heard the EJ&E DS tell trains to set out bad ordered equipment that got nailed by the detector.

Just for the record, the picture is from 10/8/2005 in Perry KS, according to Richie Kennedy’s notes with the original picture.

I think he just used this picture as ‘stock footage’, as in it wasn’t the picture of the unit set out.

CORRECT.

Probably built for the same purpose the 0-5-0’s were built. Darn good kicking engines.

0-5-0? Which side only had two drivers?

Gota pic of that? [:)]

Jim, that was what I got from your thread starter post, but it seemed that some did not pick up on your original comment. I actually prowled around RKs albums a little bit while I was looking and he has some interesting shots from some of his trips.

Gee, isn’t that crew van here YET?

Dave Nelson

LOL

For the record, somebody in Omaha must have been reading our forum as the unit in question at the start of this thread has been moved (where, I am not srue but my guess is down at Proviso).
