Help - Best Track Planning Software for HO

What’s the best track planning software out there? I used RTS and it’s pretty archaic. Would like to be able to try different kinds of track. Checked out RR-Track and 3rd Planit. While expensive, they seem to be pretty cool software and I suppose the cost of buying it far outways the cost of overbuying track and making really bad design decisions. Please help - I’d like to download something tonite and re-draw my layout from RTS to the new program. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks gang!

you could try xtrkcad from www.sillub.com

The download for Xtrkcad is presently offline at sillub. It is posted in the Xtrkcad Yahoo! group, or I’m sure there are people that could email it to you. It is free to register, and works well. It does everything except render a 3-d drawing.

Thanks guys. I tried the sillub website and as jeff said it’s offline. I ended up downloading the Linux version in my quest to find it. I’ll try the Yahoo! group. If anyone is willing to e-mail it to me, let me know.

I didn’t want to commit until I was sure I had it. Drop me you e-mail and I’ll send it.

Thanx guys, I got it thru Yahoo! group. No need to e-mail. It looks pretty cool so far, I seem to be figuring it out OK (did my benchwork already). I’ll give it a try. I guess it’s not worth spending money when you can get free registration software.
