can some one help me come up with a realisic paint scheme for my modern day motive power and rollng stock, I want the Primary colors to be Black and Gold and trimed in Red but i just can’t seem to get an imiage in my mind I’ll take any help you could mustter
How about something like the Monon scheme?
Here’s a scheme I made. The original drawing is from http://paintshop.railfan.net/. The road name should go right above the red stripe in the Gold part of the long hood. I’ll modify it any way you want just post your request here.
Or like this?
The image works in preview. Looks like you’ll have to past the link in your browser.
Do something like Southern’s. Or you could try the way BNSF does it.

well this is what I came up with because of your help the Base color is Gold (i couldn’t find it in MS Paint colors) Black and red, Does this look realisitc or am I being Idealistic this is my first time trying to come up with a paint scheme so tell me Good or Bad
That long URL got clobbered, that’s why there’s nothing but a little red X - I guess this is what you meant to show?
I like it. By the name, I’m guessing your freelance pike is a larger [Class I or Class II] railroad; A fancy scheme like yours on a prototype would be expensive, and shortlines usually don’t have the cash for it.
you got it a class 2 railroad that started from the intermodal service in L.A. but how did you shorten it to get it to come up
First I chopped off the trailing ‘&sho’:
http://www.flipdrive.com/angelic/photoalbum.php?album_id=5&name=ac4400cw.JPG&code=public~~&sho~~
That got me to your flip-drive page with the thumbnail. Then I viewed your drawing, right-clicked on it, viewed “Properties”, and highlighted/copied its URL from there and pasted it.
[LATER EDIT:] I just noticed that when I clicked on the link instead of embedding it between the ‘IMG’ tags, it went right to the flip drive page. I guess the problem occurs when you try to embed the URL from your browser’s address box. You need to point directly to the image file itself for embedding to work.
Ok i got the picture up and working Is there any other help Like I said it’s a class 1 or 2(not sure yet) railroad, any other helpful advise like locomotives I should get I have 3 AC4400’s, 1 SD40-2, and 1 GP40-2 at the current time any other Locos I should get for a mainline hauler like this one
For starters, I’d get at least one GP38-2 for yard service, maybe even two. As for main line service, modern roads use 6-axle power; maybe a wide-cab EMD (such as an SD70M or SD75M) to complement your 3 GE units.
The paint scheme I posted earlier in this thread just happens to be a GP-38-2. You could use that scheme as your old scheme on spartan cab units and your scheme on newer wide nose ones.
ok a forgive my ignorance but what exactly is a spartan cab?
That means any cab that is NOT wide-bodied like all the newer models; cabs that have external side walkways on them. All EMD hood diesels that were produced before the late-eighties are spartan cabs.
