Help needed for prototypical info on CB&Q #9926

Just try to find the appropriate sound decoder for it…I know it’s a 12 cylinder but is it turbo charged or non-turbo? Single Chime or Nathan 3 chime? With dynamic brakes?

Thanks…

CB&Q 9926A and 9926B was delivered as model E7A passenger engines. Like all EMD E7 engines, they had a pair of non-turbo 12 cylinder 567 power plants. A pair of single note air horns were mounted on the roof. There were no D/B’s on any E7(that would have to wait until model E8 in 1949) The engines had dual steam genrators and was geared for 117 mph operation. They would have been delivered with the black nose strpes. After 1958, re-painted engines got the red nose stripes. Some may have recieved 3 or 5 note air horns later in life when the single note ‘bamper’ died…

Thanks for that!

So if the one I am looking at 9926B, have the res nose stripe then it is likely that they have 3 or 5 chimes?

You will need to find a picture of the 9926B - it may still have the original horns, or got new ones if the originals died. What sound decoder are you looking at, and what scale is this model? Also, who makes it?
