Help!!! Post pictures on forum.....

I am pretty computer illiterate and need help here. I did join the Photobucket and posted a picture but I still don’t get how to transfer it to a post here!! I need step by step because I went into the forum search but could’t follow the directions!! [banghead][banghead] Any and all help will be appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

The easy way is to copy a link to your post… If you want the photo to come up without having to click on a link then put the link between to image quotes like this (use square brackets rather than squigly ones)…

it will come up like this…

Be sure to turn on public access on your photobucket account or provide us with a visitor password (not the same one as your account password).

Don,

If you have your pics uploaded on the Photobucket server, all you need to do is link it to your photos web address. To do so, do the follow:

  1. Open the actual picture you want post in your Photobucket account.

  2. Copy the picture address of the photo by:
    a. Right clicking the photo
    b. Click “Properties”
    c. Copy “Location” code - e.g. “http://www.photobucket.com…”

  3. Paste picture’s address into your post in the following manner

[ img ]http://www.photobucket.com…[ /img ]

(You need to remove the spaces in the brackets in order for it to work.)

The “img” and “/img” are computer code for image. Basically, you are telling the forum software with the first bracket, “Hey, the image starts here!”. Likewise, with the second bracket it says, “Hey, the image stops here.”

Hopefully, that makes sense…

Thank you so much…now it makes total sense to me!!

Way too much effort to use photos hosted by Photobucket. They already provide URLs, Tags, and IMG links below each photo they host. Just put your cursor over the bottom one - IMG, it will highlight. Right click on your mouse and choose “copy”. That’s it. Write your message in the forum, right click and choose “paste”, which will insert the previously copied link into your message. Might as well let your computer do the work for you!

The URLs will place a clickable link into a message. The Tags are for use in eBay and other auction sites where you want to insert your own photos.

You can do as Bob said, or if you want us to “see” the photo on the page, highlight the url you just pasted and click on the “insert image” button from the “format” selection of buttons and voila!

Did you turn on public access on your photobucket account ?

Did you use the highlight and insert image features?

Your url should look something like this:

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-8/1069636/Atlas-TVMAlcoRS-11LoNosew-SND19.JPG

It should start with the “http://img:” ad end with “.jpg”

for the link above, I highlighted the url and then clicked on “insert hyperlink” from the Format choices. To show the photo on the page choose the “insert image” instead.

If this is not working, other than not giving public access permission on the host site I’m stumped. Maybe someone else can help.

It looks like you succeeded BNSFrailfan ! Joy.

Still too much work! I’ve copied the IMG tag from one of my Photobucket photos. I’m pasting it here:

See! Simple as that!

Psssst… over here, c’mere a second.

How about using a shortcut?

Highlight the img option in your PB account and copy it easily by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing the C key at the same time.

Your computer will hold the highlighted information until you need it (unless you change it) and you can insert it into your forum post by again holding the Ctrl key but now pressing the V key.

When you are writing your post the address will appear in black text but will be blue in the public posted version. Leave a space between lines that will be a space between your posted images.

Thank you all for your input. I’ll try it out soon!

Right clicking and hitting “Copy” does the same thing, all with one hand. Faster and less complicated.

Bob Boudreau

Yes but sometimes CTRL C then V forces a copy and paste regardless of a website that might be written to block right clicking.

Testing only
Just want to see if this works, my first try

It looks like you’ve used the supplied URL in some kind of manner, use the Photobucket supplied IMG link and it will work better.
