Help with a roadrailer

I am putting together an intermodal train and want part of it to be roadrailers. I have three questions, first what is the name of the truck and wheels in between each of the trailers. I know that i need a coupler mate bogie at the front to hook onto my well cars but i dont know what those trucks are between the trailers that ride on the track. The other question is can I buy those seperately and lastly, Will the road railer couplers work with any standard trailer. This is all ho scale. Thanks

I’ve never seen roadrailers as part of another type of train except Amtrak. The roadrailers I’ve always seen were in their own trains.

The truck at the rear of the trailers is called a bogie. Bowser makes excellent models of roadrailers (I have 62 TripleCrown trailers with 40 set up for rail service). As far as I know, they are the only manufacturer of roadrailers. The bogies only work with the roadrailer kits and are basically part of the trailer. Think of it as each trailer and bogie on the rear as being one articulated section of a long car with a couplermate added to the front. Bowser’s instructions also include how to add a couplermate on the rear of the last trailer, which is done for reverse moves.
