To my Forum friends:
Need a bit of help with two HO scale modeling projects. They are both based on gondolas I saw recently as MOW cars. Both were present for the era I model.
The first one is a former GN prototype. (https://photos.app.goo.gl/hceKXkJXnUXE91obA) I have plenty of pictures of the series for my era. Where I’m having the challenge with this is finding the right car to model it. The closest I’ve come is the Walthers Mainline one. Some of the panel spacing doesn’t look quite right and it has corrugations on all the panels. The extra corrugations can be fixed with a chisel blade but the panel issue is another story entirely.
The second one is an SLSF prototype. (https://photos.app.goo.gl/AbbRo2bC3hRvtVhd6) I have a car model found for this one. However, what I can’t find are pictures of the series in the 1970s. I have a builder’s photo and 2000s+ ones but none for the 70s era I need. From what I can tell, the trucks changed somewhere along the line among other things.
Trying to backdate prototypes circa 50 years is a bit of a challenge.
